CENTER HOURS

Southwestern Day Care Center is open Monday thru Friday | 630am – 6pm

PARENT CONFERENCES

Parents are invited to schedule a conference with the teacher or the director at any time and are encouraged to do so at least once a year.  Parents may also be contacted to schedule a conference if the need arises.

For the 2016-2017 school year, SWDC will be officially closed on the following days (charges will apply)

Labor Day (9/5)

Thanksgiving and the Day After (11/24 | 11/25)

Christmas Day (12/26)

New Year’s Day (1/2)

Memorial Day (5/29)

4th of July (7/4)

SNOW DAYS

Closing due to weather will be announced on radio station WBEN 930 and TV Ch. 2 WGRZ, Ch. 4 WIVB, and Ch. 7 WKBW.

CHILD RELEASE

Children will not be released to any person other than those previously designated unless permission is granted in writing or a phone call is received from the parent.  Unfamiliar persons picking up children will be asked to provide proper identification.

VITAL INFORMATION

Please notify the office if there is a change in any of the information submitted for our records.  Name, Address, Phone, Place of Employment, Emergency Contact, Etc. must be kept updated.

HEALTH FORMS

The state of New York mandates that medical forms be completed and signed by your doctor and kept on file in the Day Care office.  Forms must be submitted prior to admittance.  Children’s immunizations and records must be kept current.

HEALTH POLICY

Children will not be admitted when they have a fever or are sick.  A parent will be called if the child becomes sick during the day.  Re-entrance after contagious illness requires doctor’s written permission.

ADMINISTERING MEDICINE

New York State Law requires that your doctor complete and sign a medical form for our staff to administer any medication (including Tylenol or other over-the-counter medicine).  Please obtain a form from the office if you need our specially trained staff to administer any medication.

PERSONAL ITEMS

Please label all your children’s clothing (Jacket, Boots, Blankets, Shirts, Pants, etc.) SWDC is not responsible for lost articles.  Check the office for lost and found items

PARKING

Please refrain from parking in  front of the walkway.  Parents may use the area directly in front of the Center for drop-off and pick-up.  For longer parking, use other designated areas.

CHILD ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

  1. Music classes each week
  2. Art and physical education are integrated into the curriculum of each class
  3. Use of air-conditioned, full-sized gymnasium
  4. Pre-school program for children preparing to enter kindergarten

DISCIPLINE

SWDC uses time-out and student conference to discipline a child.  At no time will corporal punishment ever be used.  A detailed behavior management plan is available upon request.
